FLV stands for Flash video. It is a specific kind of video file format which are used to share videos by all the popular video sites like YouTube, Yahoo Video, Daily Motion, Metacafe, Vevo etc. Though you could find several multimedia converters, but VLC media player is among the most popular tool to do the needful. There are many in-build features and functions found in VLC players which make it a popular choice among the users. Among the many, you have a function of converting media files from one format to other. Steps involved in converting FLV to MP3
In order to start the process of conversion, you need to open your VLC player, click over the media option and then select the option- Convert/Save. Now you will come across the tabs of File, Network, Disc and Capture device. In the file menu tab, you need to add the FLV file (which you want to convert) by navigating it and selecting it. Now, click over the option Convert/Save which will give you a new convert window pop up giving the file source detail along with the asking the location where you want to save your converted file.
Now, click on browse under the destination option in order to select the file location where you want to save the file after conversion. Before saving, you are supposed to write a proper name of the converted file and save it by clicking on the button which says ‘save’. While naming the file, you need to end the file with .MP3, for instance if you name the file as pop, it would appear in pop.mp3.
The further action
On the very same convert window seen under settings, you are now supposed to click over the option –‘create a new profile’ which will open up a new pop up window saying Form. On the profile name, you are supposed to write appropriate name like FLV2mp3 for example. Then you will find four different tabs including Encapsulation, Audio codec, Video codec, and the Subtitles tab.
Now, select ‘RAW’ seen under Encapsulation tab followed by clicking over the Audio codec tab along with selecting the Audio check box to simply activate the other options seen below. Then select MP3 which will be seen in the codec dropdown list, wherein you will see MPEG Audio as the default. Once you do this, change the sample rate from the 8000 to 44100 and save by clicking over the button save.
This would bring you back at the ‘Covert’ window, under the setting select the newly created ‘FLV2Mp3’ option from the dropdown list of profile. Now simply click on the button ‘start’ and see your FLV file getting converted into an Mp3 audio file instantly. After completing this step, go to your saved location and check your newly converted file which is named under filename.mp3.ps. The filename is the name which you gave during the conversion process.
Now, you are supposed to rename the file to filename.mp3 by removing the extension .ps. Then you get a warning pop up window which says that you have changed the file name extension. This file could become unusable, now simply select yes so that you can change it. You are now down, just play the converted mp3 file using your VLC or MP3 player and enjoy the music.
