Printers are truly essential devices that accompany a computer in today’s world. People have become dependent on printers so much that they use it for almost every task at hand. Some of these tasks are work or school related. However, this dependency can cause a major frustration when things do not work out as expected or an error occurs.
There are two types of error – a technical error and a user neglect error. A technical error is related to the printer and the human neglect error can be related to the use of printer ink, toner and paper. To better understand these types of error and give them a solution, they are discussed better below.
An example of a technical error is when a printer spooler becomes filled with temporary files. Files are sent to the printer spooler when they are ready to print. Normally, the files stay there until the printing is complete. However, there are some cases that the files in the printer spooler do not get deleted and end up using a relatively large space in the memory. A solution to this problem is to open up the spool folder and delete the files manually.
Another error is when a printer drive becomes obsolete or corrupted. All peripheral and hardware devices need device drivers to connect with Windows and its applications. Printing errors occur when one of the computers drivers become obsolete or corrupt. To fix this problem, a daily update of the printer’s driver can be the best solution.
Computer devices are listed in the Windows registry. A problem with the print registry or if the registry itself is corrupted can lead to printing errors and wasted printer ink. To resolve this issue, scan and repair the errors in the registry. But this may not be easily done manually and a program that can do the task is recommended.
Some problems can be caused by viruses or spyware infections. These infections are the root causes of many computer errors such as infect printer files. The key solution to this error is efficient anti-virus software, one that is trusted and really useful. Anti-virus softwares eliminate viruses and spywares.
Moving on to user neglect error, one of these is as mundane as adjusting the font and font size of your document. Thinner and narrower fonts use less ink than bolded fonts. A few examples of these fonts are Times New Roman, Arial, Calibri, Cambria, Centaur and Trebuchet. Sans fonts are more usable than their serif counterparts.
Adjusting the layout, printing in draft mode, removing unnecessary pictures are also ways to prevent wasting printer ink. Clicking print preview will enable you to see the document beforehand. Check this for unwanted errors and revise while it is still on the computer instead of writing revisions on the paper.
Sometimes errors are just unorganized mistakes which can be put off by checking the status of the printer, updating the driver of the device and properly using the resources such as ink, toner and paper.
